What we aim for

We want everyone in La Porte to be able to use this site, including people who browse with a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or reduced motion turned on. We work to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which is the standard usually applied to websites under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What we have done

Pages use real headings and landmarks rather than styled text, so a screen reader can navigate them. Every page starts with a skip link to the main content. Keyboard focus is visible on every link, button and form field. Text and interface colors were measured against their backgrounds rather than eyeballed, and the palette was chosen to clear WCAG AA with margin. Images carry alternative text. The layout works down to a 320 pixel wide screen without horizontal scrolling, and animation is reduced automatically when your device asks for it.

Known limitations

We would rather name these than imply they do not exist. The interactive service area map opens in a dialog that needs JavaScript, and the static map image beside it carries a text description of the same area for anyone who cannot use it. The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, which is a third-party tool we do not control. This site has not had an independent accessibility audit, and we do not use an accessibility overlay widget, because overlays tend to mask problems rather than fix them.

Tell us about a problem

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email membership@lplions.club and tell us what happened and which page you were on. We will get back to you, and if something is broken we will fix it. If you need information from this site in another format, ask us and we will send it.
